Forget London Fashion Week, October is all about St Albans Fashion Week; an annual event celebrating the very best in local fashion and beauty…

Now in its third year, St Albans Fashion Week – running from 26-31 October – will showcase over 50 exciting fashion retailers, make-up artists, hairdressers, new designers and artists across Hertfordshire.

Here’s our pick of this year’s highlights…

Famed for its stunning architecture, SAFW is hosting its flagship catwalk show in St Albans Cathedral. Each year the Cathedral is transformed into the UK’s longest indoor catwalk for 800 guests to be treated to a spectacular Autumn/Winter show from exciting new designers, high street fashion brands, independent boutiques and talented local students. This year there will be two shows – on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October – after which you can shop ’til you drop and buy some of the catwalk looks, many at a discounted rate.

It’s not just about the girls, SAFW also has it covered for gents who struggle with what to wear. D.Copperfield Esq tailors near the Maltings Shopping Centre will be building the ultimate fashion man cave on the 27th between 7-9pm, featuring a classical styling session from the team, live grooming tips and techniques and a whisky tasting. This is a free event.

Charity Catwalk

Every year SAFW supports a local charity and this year Harpenden-based Caroline Jones’s ‘Knickers Model’s Own’ campaign is the recipient. Aiming to raise £36,500 for Cancer Research UK, Caroline will be holding a styling event from 2-4pm on the 26th with a delicious lunch at Brasserie Blanc. Tickets £20, must book in advance. She will also take to the Cathedral Catwalk with her own collection of looks styled by Cancer Research UK charity shops.
