Charlotte Davey shares her favourite places to visit, shop and unwind in and around her home
Englefield Green with my husband of 10 years, Ben, and our two children, Ollie, eight, and Noah Fox, four. We have two miniature Dachshunds, a golden retriever, two cats and four chickens!
I have my own PR and social marketing company, Like Minded PR, which I’ve been running from home for the past five years. Having worked in fashion and luxury goods PR for 15 years for brands such as Chanel and Hermes, the luxury now is to do this for myself from home, representing a handful of lifestyle, beauty, food, restaurant and home brands.
FAVOURITE PLACE FOR A SPECIAL MEAL?
The Oxford Blue in Old Windsor. It’s a truly superb fine-dining pub with a stellar team from the Gordon Ramsay stable. Chef Patron Steven Ellis’ pies really are something to behold!
FAVOURITE PLACE FOR BRUNCH WITH FRIENDS?
We live opposite our local pub, The Fox and Hounds, which does superb chilli poached eggs and super-smooth flat whites. It’s a great second office, too.
FAVOURITE PLACE FOR SOME RETAIL THERAPY?
Windsor, 10 minutes away. It has a great mix of high-street stores, with favourites like Zara and Topshop, and also some great independents.
FAVOURITE SPOT WHEN I’M FEELING ENERGETIC?
Windsor Great Park – we have a gate directly into the park from our back garden. I visit every day, walking the dogs or on my daily jog, and feel so lucky to live so close. The boys have been pushed around Cow Pond in their buggies from when they were born, they’ve learned to ride bikes there, I’ve trained there for the Windsor Half Marathon, ridden horses there and partied at Guards Polo Club.
FAVOURITE LOCAL DISCOVERY?
Kris Cruisers in Datchet – we have spent many weekends on the river with friends, having hired a boat from there either for the day or for a few nights away. The boys love it – they’ve literally learnt the ropes about river boating and I’m sure could just about master the locks on their own now.
FAVOURITE SPOT FOR A FAMILY DAY OUT?
The Savill Garden; the gardens are an inspiration all year round, and the shop is my go-to for any last-minute gifts. They’ve also just re-launched their restaurant, which now has a huge copper pizza oven. The boys love the playground just outside the Savill Building and, if they’re good, we’ll have an ice-cream from the pretty vintage truck after a run around.
